Frequently Asked Questions

What is passOSCE?

Our passOSCE platform is a study companion designed specifically for pharmacy candidates preparing for the PEBC OSCE — the practical, station-based Part II of the PEBC Qualifying Examination. The app offers hundreds of OSCE station scenarios by therapeutic area, "What To Do" and "What To Say" station guides that mirror the scoring checklist, model demonstrations, live voice sessions where you speak out loud in real time with realistic station simulations powered by Guardian Engine™, typed sessions of the same cases, a full Mock OSCE, and examiner-grade rubric scoring. It's built for the counselling, communication, and clinical skills the OSCE assesses at the station.

How do I purchase a subscription?

passOSCE is available now on the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad. Simply download the app and choose one of the subscription plans within the app. All payments are processed securely through Apple's payment system. Android and web versions are coming soon.

How do I sign in?

You sign in with Apple or Google. passOSCE does not use email-and-password accounts. Since the app is currently iOS-only, you'll typically sign in with your Apple ID; Google sign-in is also supported. Android and web sign-in will arrive when those versions launch.

What subscription plans are available?

passOSCE offers three auto-renewing plans. Every plan unlocks the complete case library and unlimited written stations, model demonstrations, and detailed feedback — the plans differ only by how many live sessions you get during the term:

  • Core — $199, 150 live sessions, 3 months
  • Pro — $299, 250 live sessions, 3 months
  • Advanced — $599, 600 live sessions, 6 months

A live session is used each time you step into a full interactive spoken station. Prices are shown in USD; the App Store will display the equivalent amount in your local currency. Your subscription renews automatically, and you can cancel anytime in your App Store settings.

Can I get more live sessions if I run out?

Yes — you can keep practising. If you use up the live sessions included with your plan, you can top up right in the app by purchasing optional Live Sessions Usage credit packs. These add-on credits never expire and are simply added to your live session balance (an active subscription is required). Only interactive live stations draw from your balance — the case library, written stations, model demonstrations and detailed feedback always stay unlimited.

Is there a free trial?

passOSCE doesn't offer a general free trial, but there's the passMCQ Promo: if you're a passMCQ subscriber, you can redeem a code inside passOSCE to unlock 15 free live sessions plus 5 free cases of your choice (one offer per account). Otherwise, the practice stations are available to subscribers only.

Can I use passOSCE on multiple devices?

Your account can be active on one device at a time. You can move to a different device, but to prevent account sharing we apply a device-switch cooldown between changes. Please refer to our Device Switching Policy for details. Android and web versions are on the way.

Is my progress saved to my account?

Yes. Your progress, flags and bookmarks, and statistics — such as your score trend, practice time, and average scores — are tied to your account, so they're there when you sign back in.

How often is the content updated?

We regularly update our station scenarios and content to ensure accuracy and relevance to current pharmacy practice. Updates are automatically delivered through the App Store.

What happens when my subscription expires?

When your subscription expires, you'll maintain access to your progress data but won't be able to access station scenarios or study materials until you renew your subscription.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings. You'll continue to have access until the end of your current billing period.

How do the model answers and checklists work?

Every station in passOSCE includes a scoring checklist and a model answer that walk through the ideal approach — the counselling points to cover, the clinical reasoning, the questions to ask, and the competencies examiners assess — and highlight common pitfalls. The content is written by pharmacists who have prepared candidates for the OSCE, not auto-generated.

What makes the Objective Structured Clinical Examination challenging?

The Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is challenging because it:

  • Assesses your skills live at timed, station-based scenarios with standardized patients and health professionals
  • Requires you to counsel patients and communicate with prescribers clearly and empathetically under time pressure
  • Tests therapeutic problem-solving, patient assessment, and drug-information skills applied to real cases
  • Evaluates collaboration, professionalism, and ethics-in-practice, not memorization
  • Combines interactive role-play stations with some written, non-interactive ones

Our interactive station scenarios help you practise the way the exam is actually assessed to build confidence and competency.

How does passOSCE help with exam preparation?

Our passOSCE platform provides comprehensive preparation tools including:

  • Hundreds of OSCE station scenarios by therapeutic area, covering patient counselling, prescriber communication, patient assessment, and therapeutic problem-solving
  • "What To Do" and "What To Say" station guides that mirror the scoring checklist, plus model demonstrations
  • Live sessions — speak out loud in real time with realistic station simulations powered by Guardian Engine™ (push-to-talk or open-mic), timed like the real exam
  • Typed sessions of the same cases, and a full Mock OSCE combining live and written stations
  • Examiner-grade rubric scoring with a score, pass/fail, safety flags, and an examiner-style narrative
  • Flags and bookmarks for review
  • Statistics — score trend, practice time, and average scores
  • Text-to-speech

Can I get a refund if I'm not satisfied?

Refunds are handled by Apple and are subject to the terms of the App Store, since all subscriptions are purchased through Apple. Please contact support.osce@pass-osce.ca for assistance with refund requests.

How long should I study for the Objective Structured Clinical Examination?

The recommended study duration varies based on your background and experience, but typically:

  • Recent pharmacy graduates: 2-3 months of dedicated practice
  • Internationally educated graduates: 3-6 months to build clinical communication skills
  • Those needing comprehensive review: 3-6 months

Our app includes progress tracking to help you gauge your readiness and adjust your study timeline accordingly.
